If you are looking for a purely software based way to learn spanish, then Rosetta Stone is a great option. It has won numerous awards and is used by some sections of the Us Government and military for their personnel.

What You Will Learn

Rosetta Stone works by using pictures and written and spoken text in conjunction with each other to give the spanish languuage learner an image and audio based experience. There are 10 groups within each level and a score is kept of how you are doing. This is not a grammar based spanish learning method, so don't worry about having to memorize rules.

Who is This Program Best Suited to?

Rosetta Stone is set up into 3 levels. In Level 1 you will learn about simple concepts and vocabulary such as "man", "women", etc. and also numbers.You will also learn past and future tense as well as giving directions.

Level 2 continues from level 1 with more advanced grammar and vocabulary which concentrates on single term topics such as "travel" "automobile" etc. and is good for the intermediate student.

Level 3 works fine for the intermediate to advance student and uses longer and more complex movie and written material.

How is it Sold?

Rosetta Stone is sold as separate levels or can be purchased in a bundle. It is not cheap, as the beginning level 1 starts at around $185 and can go up to $435 for all three levels. It is however worth the price.
